新年の挨拶

新しい年のお喜びを申しあげます

典礼暦では、1月1日は神の母聖マリアの祭日です。

本日のミサの第一朗読の箇所（民数記6:22-27）には、神様の祝福を与えてくださる言葉があります。

主があなたを祝福し、あなたを守られるように。

主が御顔を向けてあなたを照らし

　　あなたに恵みを与えられるように。

主が御顔をあなたに向けて

　　あなたに平安を賜るように。

2026年を迎えるにあたり、主が私たちにも同じ祝福を与えてくださいますようにと祈っております。

本日の福音（ルカ2:16-21）は、主の降誕夜半のミサで読まれた物語の続きです。「しかし、マリアはこれらの出来事をすべて心に納めて、思い巡らしていた」（19節）、とあります。

主の母マリアは、妊娠、出産、そして幼子への養育という経験を静かに受け止め、心に刻んでいる姿で描かれています。彼女は自らの感じたこと、目撃したことをすべて受け入れ、平安のうちにおられます。

聖母のように、私たちも今年、そして生涯において、神が私たちの人生の旅路を導かれることを静かに受け入れられますようにと祈ります。

I wish you a Happy New Year.

January 1 is Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.

The first reading of today’s mass, from the Book of Numbers (6:22-27), delivers the words of blessing of the Lord:

The LORD bless you and keep you!  

The LORD let his face shine upon you,

and be gracious to you!

The LORD look upon you kindly and give you peace!

May the Lord extend the same blessings to us as we welcome 2026.

The gospel of the day is from the Gospel of Luke (2:16-21). It is the continuation of the story read during the Nativity Mass at night. The gospel tells us: “And Mary kept all these things, reflecting them in her heart” (v 19).

Our Lord’s mother is presented as calmly absorbing her experiences of pregnancy, giving birth and nurturing a baby. We see her at peace with all she has felt and witnessed.

Like the Blessed Mother, may we calmly allow God to guide our life journey this year and all the years of our life.
